Power of 2How to Make the Most of Your Partnerships at Work and in Life
by Rodd Wagner, Gale Muller, Ph.D.
Gallup Press
November, 2009
Take two people and team them up. Return a few months later, and you might find a highly efficient and productive partnership. Or you might find them at each other's throats, accomplishing less than if they had worked independently. An interesting puzzle lies between those extremes. Why do some partnerships succeed while others fail?
After five years of research, Gallup experts Rodd Wagner and Dr. Gale Muller crack the code for creating the most successful partnerships with POWER OF 2: How to Make the Most of Your Partnerships at Work and in Life. With original Gallup research into the dimensions of partnership as well as some unusual studies of animals, computer gaming, and even cases of revenge and acts of self-sacrifice, Wagner and Muller outline what they have discovered to be the eight components of successful partnerships -- complementary strengths, a common mission, fairness, trust, acceptance, forgiveness, communicating, and unselfishness.
POWER OF 2 unearths the blueprint for creating powerful partnerships and serves as a primer for unleashing the power of collaboration in any type of organization.
Rodd Wagner is a principal of Gallup and coauthor of the New York Times bestseller 12: The Elements of Great Managing. Wagner advises senior executives across several industries on the best ways to strengthen their partnerships, increase employee engagement, and improve profitability. Wagner received a master's degree in business administration from the University of Utah Graduate School of Business.
